as we were taking a stroll around the neighborhood my son announced to me today..."Listen Mommy!"
so we listened...
"do you he-wer that?" (translation for those that don't know baby toddler talk...do you hear that!?)
"what?"
"listen..." he whispered. and I listened obediently...
"the bi-werds" (the birds!)
"wow- that is right! those are birds singing!" I answered....I was inspired
IN the midst of the noises of a busy city, traffic, horns, trucks, construction, between the buzz of life, these little ears could make out the sound of birds chirping. He could NOT SEE them, but he could hear them, and he stopped walking and made me listen and appreciate the invisible, beautiful song they sung.
Just like that, in the midst of our hectic lives, stop and listen to the quiet song that God wants to personally sing to you. Just for your ears to listen to. Make sure to appreciate it, otherwise He gets drowned out by the loud noises that bustle and engulf our lives. we always desire Him to listen to us and our requests, though we need to learn how to be attentive to his melody.
He is singing a tune right now...it may be loud like thunder, it may be a whisper in the wind, your ears will draw in the song if you stop and listen.
1 Kings 19:11-13
11 The LORD said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by.”
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.
Psalm 29:3-9
3 The voice of the LORD is over the waters;
the God of glory thunders,
the LORD thunders over the mighty waters.
4 The voice of the LORD is powerful;
the voice of the LORD is majestic.
5 The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars;
the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He makes Lebanon leap like a calf,
Sirion like a young wild ox.
7 The voice of the LORD strikes
with flashes of lightning.
8 The voice of the LORD shakes the desert;
the LORD shakes the Desert of Kadesh.
9 The voice of the LORD twists the oaks
and strips the forests bare.
And in his temple all cry, “Glory!”
the God of glory thunders,
the LORD thunders over the mighty waters.
4 The voice of the LORD is powerful;
the voice of the LORD is majestic.
5 The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars;
the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He makes Lebanon leap like a calf,
Sirion like a young wild ox.
7 The voice of the LORD strikes
with flashes of lightning.
8 The voice of the LORD shakes the desert;
the LORD shakes the Desert of Kadesh.
9 The voice of the LORD twists the oaks
and strips the forests bare.
And in his temple all cry, “Glory!”
