know yourself

this is just a little summary, a reminder for those who were able to attend the team building session yesterday, and an opportunity for others to read some notes about what we learnt.

I titled the message "Mirror Mirror" according to James 1:22-25
22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
In order to truly know who we are (since only the self and the spirit know the true heart of a person) we need God. His word allows us to be REAL. If we were truly real with ourselves, we would be in a different place in our lives. Honesty is heroic, there is POWER behind being real, because then and only then, when the mask is off and the disguise is gone, we have freedom.
KNOW how great GOD is, KNOW the CONSEQUENCES of our actions, KNOW the POWER OF BEING REAL. These things will lead to personal success.
If you struggle with your character, define the areas that need improvement and change them. If you find yourself constantly lying, or stealing, or falling into the same faults time and time again. Identify the problem - be real and then you will be able to deal with it.
If there are secret things that you have locked up in your heart and not released them to God, whether it's abuse, an abortion you regret, a past relationship that left you scarred, whatever the circumstance, in order to receive your full healing and closure, confess them to HIM. He will comfort you, you can trust that HE wants the best for you.
Since the MIRROR is the word of God, the word of God is JESUS (John 1) who came to shine a light in the darkness, who came to bring truth in the midst of lies. Look into THIS MIRROR, that is not going to falsify an answer. In the midst of a 'fake' world that we live in, where everything is an imitation of something (jewelery, processed foods, the body image and soooo much more) WE NEED THE TRUTH, so we can KNOW OURSELVES and not create a made up image of who we truly are.
What if we were all real...our world, families, churches, our LIFE would be so different.  You are a beautiful, valuable being to God, whom He created and designed so intricately, there is no copy.
Be encouraged that we have a great Lord and Savior who will give you a personal victory!
God bless my sister.
